Lochgilphead Caravan Park
Argyll and Bute
Fully serviced touring park overlooking the Crinan Canal in Mid Argyll
About Lochgilphead Caravan Park
Lochgilphead Caravan Park occupies Bank Park on the edge of Lochgilphead, overlooked by the Crinan Canal and well placed for exploring Mid Argyll, Kilmartin Glen and the Kintyre peninsula. Unlike the coastal sites further north around Oban, this is a caravan and motorhome-focused park, with large hard standing, fully serviced pitches rather than grass tent pitches, each with its own tap, drain and electric connection.
Facilities are geared towards comfort on longer stays, with individual centrally heated shower and toilet cubicles rather than communal blocks, an accessible toilet and shower room, a laundrette, a dishwashing area and picnic benches dotted around the park. There is no Wi-Fi on site, though the park notes that mobile and 4G reception is strong, and a dog walking area is provided for visitors travelling with pets. Static holiday homes are also available to rent for those without their own touring unit.
Lochgilphead itself is a working Mid Argyll town with shops, a supermarket and a harbour on Loch Gilp, and makes a quieter, more central alternative to basing a trip around Oban. The Crinan Canal towpath is walkable directly from the park, Kilmartin Glen's prehistoric monuments are a short drive north, and the Kintyre peninsula opens up to the south, making this a practical base for visitors touring by car rather than exploring on foot from a single spot.
