About Oban Camping and Caravanning Club Site
This Camping and Caravanning Club site sits at Barcaldine, close to the shores of Loch Creran and within Sutherland's Grove forest, around twelve miles north of Oban along the A828. The 75 pitches include grass options both with and without electric hook-up, hardstanding pitches for larger units, and a section for trailer tents, all set within a well-sheltered, walled site that takes the edge off Argyll's coastal winds.
Facilities have been recently refurbished and include modern shower and toilet blocks, a dedicated accessible facilities room, a parent and baby room, a motorhome service point and washing machines for longer stays. There is a small on-site shop for essentials and free Wi-Fi across the site, along with a designated dog walking area for the many visitors travelling with pets. Note the 3.4 metre height restriction at the site entrance, which catches out some larger motorhomes.
The location suits walkers and wildlife-watchers particularly well, with Sutherland's Grove offering waymarked forest trails straight from the site and Glasgow to Oban buses stopping nearby. Oban itself, with its ferry terminal, distillery and seafood restaurants, is a short drive south, making this a good base for exploring both the town and the quieter Benderloch coastline. The site is open from late March to late October.
