Falls of Lora Hotel takes its name from the tidal race that forms in the narrows of Loch Etive just below Connel Bridge, five miles north of Oban on the A85. The original building dates to 1886, with a 1970s extension adding further rooms across standard and superior categories, several of them dog-friendly by prior arrangement.
The hotel's whisky bar stocks over 100 varieties around an open log fire, and the bistro leans on local produce for its all-day menu, making it a popular stop for both residents and passing traffic on the road north to Fort William. A two-acre lochside garden and 40-space car park give it more room to breathe than many town-centre alternatives.
