About Oban Camping and Caravanning Club Site
Around 12 miles north of Oban at Barcaldine, near Connel, this Camping and Caravanning Club site occupies the old walled garden of Barcaldine House, giving pitches a sheltered, established feel with mature trees and hedging rare in the wider Highland landscape. It has 75 grass and hardstanding pitches, 52 with 16-amp electric hook-up, and welcomes tents, caravans and motorhomes.
A central toilet block provides free hot showers, hairdryers and washbasins, with two accessible units, one doubling as a family room. A small on-site shop stocks essential provisions and gas for a few hours each day, Wi-Fi is available for a modest fee, and a small children's play area is provided. The site sits close to the shores of Loch Creran, with walking routes along the water and into the surrounding oakwoods.
Being further out than Oban's other sites, it suits those happy to drive in for the day, in exchange for a quieter, more sheltered pitch; the drive south to Oban along the A828 takes around 20 minutes and passes through Connel and its tidal Falls of Lora. Dogs are welcome throughout the site.
