Lincoln Farm Park is in the village of Standlake, in the flat green country between the Thames and the Windrush about twelve miles west of Oxford and on the direct road towards Burford and the Cotswolds. It has been in the same family since the 1970s and has collected more or less every award British caravanning has to offer, largely because of the maintenance standards and the quality of the facilities rather than any dramatic setting.
There are seventy-six pitches, thirty-four of them fully serviced with electric hook-up, fresh water and grey waste disposal, and hardstandings long enough to take motorhomes up to thirty-eight feet. The heated toilet and shower block includes a family room and RADAR-key accessible facilities, and there is a launderette, washing-up sinks and fridge-freezers for campers. Free wi-fi covers the park. What sets it apart is the leisure building: two indoor swimming pools, a jacuzzi, a sauna and a steam room, all under cover, for which a modest additional charge applies. There is also a well-equipped play area for under-twelves and a small shop at reception stocking essentials, camping bits and free-range eggs. Dogs are welcome.
The season runs from late winter through to mid-November, which makes it one of the longer-opening sites in the county and a genuine option for a cold-weather break given the indoor pools. Standlake sits among flooded gravel pits that are now lakes used for fishing and watersports, and the village has a shop and pubs. For Oxford, the drive in takes around half an hour, with the Seacourt Park and Ride at Botley the sensible place to leave the car; Witney, Burford, Blenheim and the Cotswold villages are all closer still.
