Well-equipped club site in sheltered woodland a short walk from Freshwater East beach
Freshwater East sits in a sheltered, partly wooded valley just inland from the beach of the same name, on the south Pembrokeshire coast between Manorbier and Stackpole. The setting is a deliberate contrast to the county's clifftop sites: trees and hedges break the wind, the pitches are level and well spaced, and the whole place feels considerably calmer in bad weather than anywhere on the exposed coast. The sandy beach is a walk of ten minutes or so down a lane and through the dunes.
This is a Caravan and Motorhome Club site and the facilities are correspondingly organised. There are around 140 pitches including hardstandings, grass pitches and a number of fully serviced pitches, with 16-amp electric hook-ups throughout. Toilet and shower blocks are heated and kept to a consistent standard, there is a laundry, a motorhome service point, a small shop stocking basics and gas, and wifi is available. A play area keeps younger children occupied. Dogs are welcome and there is a dog walk on site. Tents are accepted as well as caravans and motorhomes, which is not true of every club site.
Prices sit around the mid-twenties per night for two adults with a pitch, rising in peak season, and non-members pay a supplement. It suits families and touring caravanners who want a reliable, well-run base rather than a wild one, and the location is genuinely good for the southern coast: Barafundle Bay, Bosherston, Manorbier Castle and Tenby are all within twenty minutes by car. Book ahead for July and August and for bank holiday weekends, when this end of Pembrokeshire fills quickly.
