Ponsandane Camping
Cornwall
Five-acre parkland camping a short walk from Penzance harbour and station
About Ponsandane Camping
Ponsandane sits on five acres of level parkland on the edge of Penzance itself, screened from the road by mature trees and within easy walking distance of the town's beaches, harbour, railway station and bus links. It is a straightforward, traditional campsite rather than a holiday park, and that simplicity, combined with the location, is exactly why it has a loyal following among visitors who want to explore West Cornwall without needing a car for every trip into town.
The site takes tents, camper vans and touring caravans, with two toilet and shower blocks on site, one of which was renovated in 2021 to include individual wet rooms. There is a dedicated dish-washing room with sinks and fridge-freezers, along with a washing machine and dryer for longer stays. An on-site takeaway café serves breakfasts and light lunches through the day, and campfires are permitted, which keeps evenings sociable once the day's exploring is done.
Ponsandane operates seasonally through the summer months and is popular with families and coast-path walkers alike, thanks to its flat, easy pitches and genuinely central location. Previous visitors regularly single out the friendly on-site staff and the convenience of being able to walk into Penzance for dinner rather than driving. Its position also makes it a sensible base for day trips to St Michael's Mount, Land's End and the Isles of Scilly ferry, all within a short drive or bus ride of the gate.
