This long-running Camping and Caravanning Club site sits on the edge of Scone, barely two miles from central Perth and close enough to Scone Palace to walk there for the morning. The grounds are level and well maintained, with a mix of grass pitches for tents and firmer standings for caravans and motorhomes, set among mature trees that give reasonable shelter without feeling closed in.
Facilities are what you would expect from a club-run site of this size: modern shower and toilet blocks, a laundry room, an on-site shop for essentials and a small playground for younger children. Electric hook-up is available across most of the touring pitches, and the site takes tents, caravans, motorhomes and a handful of camping pods for those without their own kit. Dogs are welcome on leads throughout.
It makes a sound base for a first visit to Perth, close enough to the city for an evening out at the theatre or a restaurant on Tay Street, yet quiet and green once you are back at the pitch. Scone village itself has a shop and a couple of pubs within easy walking or cycling distance, and the wider Perthshire countryside opens up quickly to the north.
