Murrayshall is a Georgian mansion set in 350 acres of parkland just outside New Scone, a few minutes' drive from Perth and closer still to Scone Palace. The estate has been developed over the decades into a golf resort with two full eighteen-hole courses, but the house itself retains the feel of a country retreat, with wood-panelled public rooms, open fires and views out over the fairways and surrounding farmland to the Perthshire hills.

Bedrooms are split between the main house and a newer courtyard wing, with the house rooms generally more traditional in style and the courtyard rooms larger and more contemporary. Most look out over the golf courses or the parkland, and several of the suites have separate sitting areas, useful for a longer stay. Standards throughout are comfortable rather than opulent, in keeping with the resort's golfing clientele.

The restaurant makes good use of produce from the estate's own kitchen garden and from Perthshire suppliers, and there is a spa with an indoor pool, sauna and treatment rooms for non-golfing days. Outside golf, the grounds are good for a walk in their own right, and the estate runs clay pigeon shooting and other country pursuits by arrangement.

It suits golfers first and foremost, given the two courses on the doorstep, but also couples and families who want space and grounds rather than a city-centre stay, with Perth, Scone Palace and Huntingtower Castle all within fifteen minutes by car.
