Fontley Park

Hampshire

Small countryside campsite near Fareham, around eight miles from Portsmouth

About Fontley Park

Fontley Park is a modest, countryside campsite set among fields near Fareham, roughly eight miles north of Portsmouth and a similar distance from the Solent coast at Gosport and Fareham Creek. It offers a simpler, more rural alternative to the coastal parks nearer Hayling Island, with pitches for tents, caravans and motorhomes in an open farmland setting away from main roads.

The surrounding lanes and footpaths make it a reasonable base for gentle countryside walks and cycling into Fareham or Titchfield, both of which have pubs, shops and a small selection of independent cafes. Its inland position means it is more sheltered than the exposed coastal sites, which suits campers who prefer a quieter, greener setting over sea views, while still being within a short drive of Portsmouth's Historic Dockyard, Gunwharf Quays and the M27 for onward travel.

Facilities are kept fairly simple, in keeping with the site's small scale, with electric hook-ups and shower blocks provided but without the shop, pool or extensive play areas found at larger holiday parks. That makes it best suited to campers who want a straightforward, peaceful pitch as a base for exploring Portsmouth and the wider Fareham countryside rather than an on-site holiday experience in itself.
