Rye Windmill occupies a genuine early nineteenth-century smock mill, one of the last of its kind in the area, converted into a guesthouse while retaining much of its original timber structure. The mill itself contains a distinctive circular bedroom, while further rooms are set in an adjoining building around a private garden.

The gardens run down towards the river and the old town walls, giving the property a more open, tranquil setting than the guesthouses tucked directly into the cobbled streets, while still being within easy walking distance of the High Street and station.

A breakfast room overlooks the garden and mill pond, and the informal, family-run atmosphere suits visitors who want a quieter base close to, but not directly within, the busiest part of old Rye.
