The Bell Hotel

Upper Strand Street, on the River Stour · Hotel

A grand Edwardian riverside hotel with 37 boutique bedrooms, a terrace bar overlooking the Stour and a kitchen built on Kentish produce.

About The Bell Hotel

The Bell has stood on the banks of the River Stour since Tudor times, though the building seen today is largely the result of an Edwardian rebuild, with large fireplaces, high ceilings and generous windows giving the public rooms real presence. Its 37 en suite bedrooms mix traditional and boutique styling, with several suites featuring four-poster beds and roll-top baths.

Downstairs, the riverside bar and restaurant make the most of the Bell's position, with an alfresco terrace looking directly over the water towards the Barbican, and a menu built around seasonal produce from in and around Kent given a contemporary spin on classic pub cooking.

Its position on Upper Strand Street puts the Guildhall, the quay and the timber-framed heart of the old town within a couple of minutes' walk, making the Bell a comfortable, central choice for exploring Sandwich.
