Ness Walk sits on the west bank of the River Ness, a few minutes' walk from Inverness city centre across the pedestrian bridge. The core of the hotel is a Victorian villa, extended with a modern wing that opened in 2019. The grounds are wooded and quiet, which is unusual for a hotel this close to a city centre, and the Ness Islands walks begin almost at the gate.

There are 47 bedrooms and suites. The style is contemporary rather than tartan: muted colours, natural timber, large windows and considered lighting. Bathrooms are generous, many with walk-in showers and separate baths, and the better rooms look directly onto the river. Suites add sitting areas and, in some cases, private terraces. Accessible and interconnecting rooms are available, which makes the hotel more flexible than most in its class.

Torrish, the hotel restaurant, serves modern Scottish cooking with an emphasis on produce from the Moray Firth and the surrounding glens. There is a bar and lounge for lighter meals and afternoon tea, and a small spa with treatment rooms, a sauna and a relaxation area. Service is attentive without being stiff, and the hotel handles leisure guests and small business events equally well. Parking is on site.

The location makes it a practical base for the wider Highlands. Inverness Airport and the railway station are both close, Loch Ness and Urquhart Castle are half an hour away, and Culloden battlefield, the Clava Cairns and the Speyside whisky distilleries are within an easy drive. In the city itself the castle, the Victorian Market and Eden Court theatre are all walkable. It suits couples, older travellers and anyone who wants Highland scenery without giving up city convenience.
