Bryn Bella sits on the hillside above Betws-y-Coed, looking out across the village and the Gwydir Forest. It is run by Joan and Mark, who have been at it for over two decades and hold an AA 4-Star Gold rating along with the AA Breakfast Award. Both are keen outdoor people themselves, which shows in how the place is set up.

The bedrooms are modern, well maintained and comfortable, with good beds and en suite bathrooms — this is a long way from the chintzy guest house of memory. Rooms at the front take advantage of the view, which is the single best thing about the property. The house is small, so there are only a handful of rooms and it books up well ahead for weekends and holidays.

Breakfast is cooked to order each morning using eggs from the owners' own free-range hens and seasonal produce from the garden, and it is consistently the thing guests mention first in reviews. Practical facilities are thought through: free on-site parking, drying facilities for wet kit, complimentary EV charging for direct bookings, and a free lift from Betws-y-Coed station for guests arriving by train. The owners were the first guest house in Eryri to install EV charging and hold Plastic Free champion status.

The location puts you a few minutes above the busiest village in the national park, with the Gwydir Forest trails, Swallow Falls and Conwy Falls close by and Snowdon around thirty minutes away by car. It suits walkers, cyclists and couples who want a well-run, quiet base with good local advice on tap, and it is one of the better-value ways to stay in this part of Snowdonia. There is no restaurant, but the village has plenty of options within walking distance.
