Hollands Wood Campsite

Hampshire

A large Forestry England site in ancient New Forest woodland, near Brockenhurst

About Hollands Wood Campsite

Hollands Wood is one of the largest and best known of the Forestry England campsites in the New Forest, set among mature oak and beech woodland just outside Brockenhurst and around twelve miles from Southampton city centre. Its size and long-standing reputation make it a popular choice for families and groups looking for a proper forest camping experience rather than a manicured holiday park.

Pitches are mostly informal and set among the trees, taking tents, caravans and motorhomes, with New Forest ponies and cattle regularly wandering through the site as they graze freely across the forest. Facilities are more basic than a commercial touring park, with shower and toilet blocks provided but no electric hook-up on standard pitches, reflecting the site's low-impact position within a protected landscape; a small on-site shop covers basic supplies during the main season.

The campsite is only open through the main camping season, roughly Easter to September, and does not take bookings for the full winter period. Its location right on the edge of Brockenhurst village, with a railway station and pubs within walking distance, makes it easy to explore the New Forest by foot, bike or train without needing to drive every day, while Southampton remains a straightforward day trip by car or rail.
