Aldenham Country Park sits on a working farm just outside Elstree, around seven miles south-east of St Albans and fifteen minutes from the edge of London. The site offers simple, low-key camping on grass pitches for tents and small campervans, with no electric hookups, alongside a small collection of glamping options including furnished bell tents and wood-burner-equipped cabins for anyone without their own kit.
The park itself is the main draw for families, with farm animals, an adventure playground, pony rides and lakeside walks all included in the grounds around the campsite, so there is plenty to fill a day without needing to drive anywhere. Toilets and showers are provided on site, campfires are permitted in designated areas, and dogs are welcome throughout. A small farm shop and cafe cover essentials and a hot drink, though this is a straightforward, back-to-basics site rather than one geared towards long stays or large units.
Its position close to the M1 and A41 makes it a workable base for St Albans, Watford and the Warner Bros Studio Tour at Leavesden, all within a twenty-minute drive, while London itself is reachable by bus and Underground from nearby Elstree and Borehamwood stations.
