Hertfordshire
Large, well-equipped touring site around fifteen miles from St Albans
About Hertford Camping and Caravanning Club Site
The Camping and Caravanning Club's Hertford site is a spacious, well-run touring park on Mangrove Road, around fifteen miles from St Albans and a similar distance from Hatfield and Welwyn Garden City. Open to tents, touring caravans and motorhomes, with a good number of electric hookup pitches, it is one of the larger and more fully serviced sites within reach of the city.
Facilities are comprehensive: heated toilet and shower blocks, laundry and washing-up areas, an outdoor play area for children, and a small shop for essentials. The club also operates a selection of pre-erected Ready Camp glamping units on site for anyone without their own tent or caravan. Hertford's historic town centre, with its castle grounds, shops and riverside walks, is an easy mile's walk from the entrance, and Panshanger Park, known for its ancient oaks and lakes, lies just to the west.
The site's position gives good onward access to St Albans, Hatfield House and the Lee Valley, all within a twenty to thirty minute drive, while London is around twenty minutes away by train from Hertford's two stations. Dogs are welcome throughout. It suits touring caravans and motorhomes looking for a fully serviced base in Hertfordshire, with St Albans as one of several day-trip options rather than the primary draw.
