The position is excellent. Murray Park runs between North Street and The Scores, so the Old Course is a few minutes' walk in one direction and the cathedral ruins the same in the other, with the pubs and restaurants of the centre in between. For a group that intends to walk everywhere and cook some of its own meals, the arithmetic works out well against booking six hotel rooms.

The house retains its period proportions, with generous reception rooms on the lower floors and bedrooms above, and a kitchen sized for a full house rather than a couple. Bookings are taken well in advance, up to a couple of years ahead for peak golf dates, and the owners encourage direct contact rather than third-party sites.
