Fairmont St Andrews
Clifftop estate two miles south of town · Hotel
Five-star cliff-top resort on a 520-acre estate with two championship courses, a large spa and sweeping North Sea views.
About Fairmont St Andrews
The Fairmont stands on a 520-acre estate on the cliffs a couple of miles south of St Andrews, and the scale is the point: this is a resort rather than a town hotel, with two eighteen-hole championship courses, the Torrance and the Kittocks, laid out across the headland and the sea visible from most of the property.
Rooms are generously proportioned and modern, with the sea-facing categories worth the supplement for the outlook over the bay towards the town and the Angus coast beyond. Beyond the standard rooms there are suites and a set of four-bedroom Manor Homes on the estate for families or golf groups who want self-contained space.
The spa is among the largest in the region, with ten treatment rooms, a sixteen-metre indoor pool, sauna, steam room and jacuzzi, and there is a well-equipped gym alongside. Eating options are spread across the resort and include La Cucina for Italian cooking, the St Andrews Clubhouse and Grill, and the Kittocks and Zephyr bars. Parking is plentiful, which is a genuine advantage here, though you will want the car or the shuttle to reach the town centre.
