Lorimer House
Murray Park, minutes from the Old Course · Guest House
Small owner-run guest house in a Victorian townhouse close to the centre, well regarded for its breakfasts and its position.
About Lorimer House
Lorimer House is a Victorian townhouse guest house a few streets back from the seafront, in the quiet run of terraces between the town centre and the golf courses. The walk to the first tee is around five minutes and to Market Street a little less, which makes it one of the better-placed small properties in St Andrews for anyone travelling without a car.
The house has been carefully done up, with high ceilings, original cornice work and bay windows in the front rooms, and the bedrooms are individually furnished rather than done to a template. It is a small operation, so rooms go quickly in summer and during golf weeks, and the owners recommend contacting them directly if the online calendar shows nothing available.
Breakfast is the part guests write home about, cooked to order with local produce and served in the ground-floor dining room. The owners know the town well and are a reliable source of advice on tee times, restaurant bookings and where to walk, which is the sort of thing a larger hotel rarely manages. Street parking is available nearby, considerably easier here than on The Scores.
