Dodwell Park

Warwickshire

Small, quiet family-run touring park two miles south-west of Stratford-upon-Avon

About Dodwell Park

Dodwell Park sits on the B4085 Evesham Road about two miles south-west of Stratford-upon-Avon, on the edge of the countryside that runs down towards Luddington and the Avon. It is a small, family-run touring park that has been in the same hands for decades, and it trades on being clean and quiet rather than on entertainment. Regulars come back for the same reasons every year: the pitches are level, the showers are hot and free, and nobody is running a disco.

The park takes tents, touring caravans and motorhomes, with a choice of standard grass pitches, serviced pitches and gravel hardstandings for anyone arriving in wet weather or staying longer. Electric hook-ups are available on the serviced and gravel pitches. Facilities include heated toilets and wash basins with hot water, free hot showers, hand and hair dryers, a dishwashing area, chemical disposal and a small on-site shop with an off-licence, which saves a trip into town for milk and wine. There is no swimming pool and no playground, and wi-fi is not part of the offer.

Prices are among the more reasonable in the area: a standard pitch starts at around £20 a night, gravel and serviced pitches around £29 to £30, and a solo small tent at about £10, with higher rates over bank holidays and a book-seven-pay-for-six deal for longer stays. Dogs are welcome, up to two per pitch, for a small nightly charge. Footpaths lead from close to the entrance down to the River Avon and the village of Luddington, and the walk into Stratford along the lanes takes around forty minutes. Anne Hathaway's Cottage at Shottery is the nearest of the Shakespeare properties.
