About Stratford Touring Park
Stratford Touring Park occupies the centre of Stratford-upon-Avon Racecourse on the Luddington Road, which gives it a location no other site in the area can match: roughly a mile from Clopton Bridge, with a flat walk or short cycle into town along the Avon. For anyone who wants to camp and still see an evening performance at the Royal Shakespeare Theatre, this is the obvious base.
The park has around 120 flat grass pitches spread across the infield, of which roughly 75 have electric hook-up and the remainder are non-electric. Caravans, motorhomes, campervans, trailer tents and tents are all taken, and there is space for large units and rallies. Facilities are practical rather than luxurious: two heated toilet and shower blocks, a launderette, washing-up area, water points, chemical disposal and Calor gas sales. The Jockey Wheel bar and coffee stop on site handles the evening drink. There is no shop or swimming pool, and no children's playground, though the open infield gives youngsters more room to run than most sites manage.
The season runs from mid-March to the end of October, matching the racecourse's own calendar, since the track is not all-weather. Race days are part of the appeal rather than a nuisance: guests staying two or three nights over a meeting have generally had race admission included, and there is live entertainment through the summer. Dogs stay free provided they are kept on a lead, and gazebos are not charged for either. Pitch prices start around £23 for a non-electric grass pitch and £28 with hook-up, with a low solo-tent rate. Book ahead for summer weekends and for any date near a race meeting.
