Powdermill Touring Caravan & Camping Park

East Sussex

Woodland pitches and fishing lakes near Battle, about 15 miles from Tenterden

About Powdermill Touring Caravan & Camping Park

Powdermill sits in twenty-eight acres of woodland and meadow just outside Battle in East Sussex, around fifteen miles south-west of Tenterden, and trades on a quieter, more secluded setting than most touring parks manage. Pitches are spread through informal glades rather than laid out in regimented rows, and several fishing lakes on site give the park a purpose beyond simply somewhere to park a caravan for the night.

The park takes tents, touring caravans and motorhomes, with electric hook-ups available across most pitches, and has added a small number of glamping options for visitors without their own equipment. Shower and toilet facilities are modern and well kept, a small shop covers basic supplies and forgotten essentials, free Wi-Fi reaches the main areas of the site, and a playground keeps younger visitors entertained. Coarse fishing on the on-site lakes is a genuine draw for many regulars, and dogs are welcome in most areas of the park.

Battle itself, with its abbey and 1066 battlefield, is a five-minute drive, Hastings and its seafront a little further, and Bodiam Castle and the Kent & East Sussex Railway are within easy reach for a day out. Tenterden and Chapel Down vineyard are a comfortable half-hour's drive, making Powdermill a good option for visitors keen to split their time between Sussex's coast and battlefields and Kent's Wealden towns and vineyards.
