About Bagdale Hall

Bagdale Hall dates from 1516, built for the Conyers family, one of Whitby's most prominent historic households, and stands in the centre of town within walking distance of the harbour and beach. The hotel now spans three connected period buildings: the original Old Hall, the Georgian townhouse Crab Hall, and Lobster Hall, a former school, each retaining its own character and period features.

The Heritage Kitchen restaurant, open Tuesday to Saturday, serves lunch and dinner drawing on the building's history, and breakfast is offered as a cooked or continental option each morning. A bar area, bike storage and a drying room for cyclists reflect Bagdale Hall's popularity with walkers and cyclists tackling the surrounding coast and moors.

Its central position makes it a practical base for exploring Whitby on foot, close to the abbey steps, jet shops and the harbourside, while the building's history and period charm set it apart from more conventional seaside hotels in the same price bracket.
