Thames-side pitching in Laleham Park near Staines, about 7 miles from Windsor

About Laleham Camping Club

Laleham Camping Club runs a 98-pitch site inside Laleham Park, an area of open riverside parkland on the Thames between Staines and Chertsey. It is the closest sizeable campsite to Windsor at roughly seven miles, and about five minutes from junction 11 of the M25, which makes it an easy arrival even towing. The setting is straightforward and green: mown grass, big trees, and direct access to the river for kayaking and paddleboarding.

Pitches are grass and generously sized at nine metres square, allocated according to the size of your outfit. Tents, trailer tents, campervans, caravans and motorhomes are all taken. A proportion of pitches carry electric hook-up at 6 or 10 amps, charged as an extra on top of the nightly rate, which starts at around fifteen pounds. Because the site sits in public parkland rather than behind its own gates, it has an open, uncluttered feel that suits tent campers particularly well.

The main amenity block in the centre of the site houses the toilets and free hot showers, along with shaver and hairdryer points, and there is a laundry and a small camp store for essentials. A children's play area sits within the park. Up to two dogs are allowed per pitch, and the surrounding parkland and towpath give them plenty of room. Laleham village, with its pubs and church, is a ten-minute stroll along the river, and Staines is a couple of miles away for supermarkets and a station. Windsor, Runnymede and Legoland are all short drives, and trains from Staines put central London within about forty minutes.
