Hotels in Aberaeron

Aberaeron's appeal for a hotel or B&B stay is its sheer compactness: nearly everything worth seeing is within a five-minute walk of the harbour, so a room in or near the town centre puts the quayside, restaurants and coast path all on the doorstep. The town's handful of small hotels occupy converted Georgian townhouses, several with harbour views and rooms decorated in the same bright, confident colours as the buildings outside. Beyond the harbourside properties, guesthouses and B&Bs are dotted along the roads leading inland and towards the coast path south to New Quay, generally offering better value while remaining an easy stroll from the water.

Because Aberaeron is small and popular in summer, choice narrows quickly once the warmer months arrive, and it is sensible to book well ahead for a July or August stay, particularly around the harbour itself. Outside peak season, availability opens up considerably and rates soften, making spring and autumn a good time to find a harbourside room without paying top summer prices. Self-catering cottages, many converted from fishermen's houses, are also plentiful in the streets just back from the quay, suiting families or longer stays better than a hotel room would. Wherever you stay, the whole town is walkable, so proximity to the harbour matters less here than in a larger resort – even a room on the edge of town is rarely more than ten minutes from the water, the shops and the restaurants that make Aberaeron worth the detour off the main coast road.
