About The Pod at Chapel Farm
The Brecon Beacons, the Black Mountains… and your own little rural retreat from which to explore it all. The Pod at Chapel Farm sits in a fab Monmouthshire location for hiking the Offa's Dyke Path and Cambrian Way, or trying pony trekking from the centre just 10 minutes' walk away. Abergavenny's foodie shops and Hay-on-Wye's bookshops are both half an hour's drive for town-time supplies.
Being the only pod on site, peace is pretty much guaranteed, and the self-catering setup leans into outdoor living: there's a little cooking shed with barbecue next door, plus an outdoor seating area perfect for fresh-air breakfasts (the pod itself has kettle, fridge and toaster). Inside, underfloor heating, proper comfy beds and an ensuite bathroom make for cosy evenings after long days in the hills. It's a simple, remote spot—don't expect frills—but for walkers and mountain bikers wanting scenic solitude, it delivers.

What visitors say
My first time in Abergavenny- first time in a shepherd’s hut and first time to see alpacas - and my bucket list is now complete - such a truly a beautiful and calming stay. The huts are fantastic and the hosts have thought of every detail ( thank you for the plasters by the way - I needed them after my mountain walking🥰). The views are beautiful and I have never fallen in love with an animal as much as these alpacas. Just one minute with them and all your stresses float away. I would highly recommend- walking Blorange was a great experience- and the wild horses were the topping on a great stay - thank you lovely hosts for a lovely, lovely weekend.

We stayed at this wonderful place in Libby and Martin’s perfect shepherd’s huts for two nights, exploring the stunning Welsh countryside with friends by day and relaxing, BBQing and hanging out with the peaceful alpacas in the evening - we fell in love with these animals, especially the new baby!!! The huts are charming, were spotlessly clean and brilliantly equipped with everything we needed. The location is just gorgeous with great views to the Blorenge and Sugar Loaf and it felt so relaxing, tranquil and quiet despite being within easy reach of major roads for travel and Abergavenny town for supplies. The hosts couldn’t have been more helpful or friendly. A little slice of paradise for a perfect unwind. Thanks - we intend returning!

This was a perfect getaway for me to switch off and clear my head! I stayed in the cute little shepherd's hut surrounded by gorgeous fields, mountains and alpacas and it was literally a breath of fresh air. The hut had everything I needed, hot plates to cook my meals, a comfy bed, a nice hot shower, and it was lovely to be able to sit outside in the sunshine and be entertained by the curious and funny alpacas, which you can also feed! The nearby town of Abergavenny is a quaint and friendly place to visit shops and sit and have a coffee, where the staff everywhere are happy to have a chat with you. There are also pretty parks and a castle there. There are lots of treks and hikes you can do in the nearby mountains. Keepers pond was an easy and stunning one where you can park by the pond, but there are more difficult treks for the adventurers. I would definitely return here. The hosts Libby and Martin were really welcoming and overall this was an excellent stay!
