Hotels in Abersoch

Abersoch is not really a hotel town in the conventional sense — its accommodation runs overwhelmingly to self-catering cottages, holiday homes and caravans rather than large hotels, and visitors used to booking a chain hotel at short notice will need to adjust expectations. What the village does well is characterful, independently run guesthouses and inns, several of them attached to the pubs and restaurants on the high street, offering a handful of rooms rather than dozens. These fill up fast for peak weeks and are worth booking as early as any cottage.

Staying in the village centre puts the beach, yacht club and restaurants within a short walk, which matters if you don't want to be reliant on a car during a stay — but it also means the smallest gardens, the highest summer prices and the most noise from the high street's bars in August. Families and groups after more space, and a better rate, generally do better looking just outside the centre, in the cottages and static caravans scattered around Sarn Bach, Bwlchtocyn and the road towards Llanbedrog, where a short drive still gets you to the sand within minutes.

Expect peak-season weekly rates for a well-placed two- or three-bedroom cottage to run from around £900 up past £1,500 depending on proximity to the beach and how late you're booking; guesthouse doubles in summer typically start somewhere in the £100-£150 a night range. Outside July and August, rates ease off noticeably and availability opens up considerably, making late spring and early autumn the more forgiving times to book. Given how compact and popular Abersoch is, anyone set on a summer stay should be booking six to twelve months ahead — the best cottages and guesthouse rooms for August are often gone by the previous autumn.
