Hotels in Alderholt

Alderholt has no hotels of its own, but its position on the Dorset–Hampshire border puts a good spread within easy reach. Fordingbridge, three miles away, has pub rooms and guest houses along its high street and riverside, while Ringwood and the wider New Forest villages to the south offer everything from simple inns to country-house hotels set in their own grounds. Salisbury, around 40 minutes north, is the best bet for a larger choice of city-centre hotels alongside a day exploring the cathedral and the chalk downland of Cranborne Chase. Wherever you base yourself, the appeal of staying near Alderholt is the same: quick access to three distinct landscapes — New Forest heath, Ringwood Forest woodland and Cranborne Chase downland — without needing to be in the thick of any one of the busier New Forest honeypots. Booking ahead in summer is sensible, since much of the accommodation nearby is small-scale and fills up around school holidays, but outside peak season this is one of the easier corners of Hampshire and Dorset to find a room at short notice.
