Overall, a lovely week staying at Hales Hill. It’s a great location! Only a 20 min maximum drive to the centre of York. It was odd that there is no check-in but there is CCTV on the campsite so not just anyone could set up their tent. The shower block and toilet block is good, kept tidy the majority of the time. One thing I found odd, I’m disabled and was happy to see a disabled toilet but there is no disabled shower cubicle…seems a bit odd. There are only 2 women’s toilets near to the tent field, and 2 female showers. When the campsite is fuller, the queues aren’t fun. We had been very lucky for the majority of the week where there was hardly anyone else on the field with us. Sadly for our last night, another family came and even though they had the WHOLE field, they set up right next to us. It was quite annoying and they were very loud until the early hours of the morning…I think this would be avoided if there was a check in point as they could have been directed slightly further away from our tent but I would definitely stay here again. We were a group of 7 (5 adults, 2 kids) - we had 2 tents and one gazebo. The children’s play area isn’t amazing - and if you’re staying in the typical tent field, it’s a bit of a trek. The electric hook up was great and the fresh water was brilliant.

We were a little weary after reading some recent reviews but we had nothing to be worried over. The long single track road cuts right through the middle of the fields, and is absolutely fine if taken sensibly. The local village was beautiful and the campsite was clean and well presented. It was a little weird not having a reception to check in at but it is a working farm and they had all the details signposted. The onsite club house was open, a little pricey (understably) but good atmosphere.

Been here a few times and stayed on the field near the river and Charlie's field which you turn right into before the toilet block. Plenty of spaces between pitches and it is clean . Disabled toilet available. Showers are hot. 2 available in women's block and a washroom. My only grumble would be there is nowhere to put things whilst showering like a small bench but there are hooks at the back of the door so clothes don't get wet. This is a really nice site there is a small play area and a dog walking area but you can take the dogs on further walks around. At this time there is a no naked flame rule so no firepits allowed or BBQs signs are up apologising ( we have rented firepits in past and they were great) which we understand because of the hot weather we have been having and farmland next to it . So good on them for imposing this rule at this current time they do check as well. It's a lovely little site a ski club is next to it and there is a small clubhouse there but we haven't used it . Definitely would come back for a weekend break. Thankyou !

We had a lovely stay at Hales Hill Park near York. The campsite is very peaceful and well looked after, with a really nice atmosphere for families. The children’s play area was amazing and our kids spent so much time there. We stayed in the field next to the playground, which was perfect for families. The only small downside was that on very hot days there is not much shade in that field. During our stay it was around 26 degrees, so we tried to find somewhere cooler during the hottest part of the day. Luckily, after a short walk we found a beautiful shady spot under some trees with a hidden swing, and we spent a couple of relaxing hours there. The toilets were always very clean, especially the smaller toilet block next to our field. Facilities around the site were well maintained and tidy during our whole stay. Overall, it’s a fantastic campsite for a quiet family break close to York, with friendly surroundings, lots of space for children, and lovely countryside walks.
