Glencoe Independent Hostel (Caravan Hire Only)

My husband and I stayed here a couple of months ago after noticing it had a slipway to launch our RIB and I meant to write a review at the time. We know the area well and so already knew the location was stunning. What we didn't know was just how stunning the site itself also was. When I say "stunning", that covers every aspect of it, and not just the spectacular scenery. The owner clearly takes a great deal of pride in it and it shows. The entire place is spotless and very well taken care of. The owner (we stupidly forgot to ask his name) is very helpful and friendly and will happily make recommendations for places to go, where to eat etc, and he is always to be found around the site on his bike as he directs vehicles to their pitches or just ensuring all is as it should be and his guests are happy. Our pitch for our campervan was right at the front by the slipway for ease of getting the RIB in and out of the water but, to be fair, I don't think there's a pitch on the entire site you wouldn't be happy with. We have booked to go back again soon and are really looking forward to it. This place is first class. There are walks, hikes, places to cycle, places to eat and drink etc using the site as a base, so you could park up and not use your vehicle again for the duration of your stay, should you so decide, and then come back in the evening and enjoy chilling out and taking in the beautiful surroundings. Bliss. I'd thoroughly recommend it.

Fabulous stay Owners are very friendly, welcoming and nothing too much trouble. Facilities are top notch! Amazing setting, stunning scenery! First time visit and arrived late evening in campervan and if we didn't have a pre booked destination in Arisaig we would definitely have stayed longer! We will certainly recommend Invercoe to our fellow travellers and return ourselves next time!

From the warm and enthusiastic welcome to the plentiful facilities to the stunning views and easy walk into Glencoe, there's not really anything to say about this campsite that's not a whole-hearted recommendation. The site is in a lovely location overlooking Loch Leven and with easy access down to the water's edge - the number of guests with paddleboards, kayaks, and inflatable dinghies attests to that. The site has a very relaxed air, and it's quite compact. There's a decent ablutions block with generously-sized showers and even a baby-changing cubicle. Glencoe itself is delightful and is an easy ten-minute stroll away, just over the bridge. Alternatively, leave through the gate next to the vehicle exit and follow the forest track to reach the other end of Glencoe's main street. There's a café,a restaurant, a pub, a small shop, and access to woodland walks. Another mile (to the west) is a Co-op and some other shops at Ballachulish. A couple of miles in the other direction, on a purpose-built path, is the Glencoe Visitors centre. SOURCE: stayed overnight in a campervan, July 2026

Loved this site! The staff were very nice and friendly. Instant mood boost. The scenery is breathtaking. Coming down the road was a bit nuts! Sara was such a pleasure to meet and interact with. Highly recommend
