Red Squirrel Camping Site

We stayed in May and had a fantastic stay! You cannot fault the campsite - excellent facilities, lovely staff, and beautiful surroundings. We arrived on a Tuesday afternoon so we had lots spaces to choose from. It was a bit busier towards the weekend but everyone had a good amount of space. The showers & toilets are very good and well maintained, and the additions of a drying room & fridge/freezer were particularly helpful, especially in the rain! The staff were lovely- we accidentally left our boots in the drying room and only realised when we were halfway home - they organised posting to us which was so very kind. This site is very well cared for and the surroundings are impressive. Highly recommend!

We spent two fantastic nights at Red Squirrel Campsite! It’s the perfect spot for anyone who loves an authentic, close-to-nature Scottish camping experience. The location is brilliant, surrounded by the rugged mountains of Glencoe, which look absolutely incredible in the morning. A huge plus is that the site is 100% dog-friendly – our pup had the best time. The atmosphere is very laid-back, the staff is helpful, and being able to clear a spot for a proper campfire under the stars at night was the highlight of our stay. We’ll definitely be back!

A very scenic campsite, in a good location. Walking distance to a great pub and a good walking trail from the site. We appreciated the rules about noise and on our first night this was truly observed. It was utterly tranquil long before the noise cut off of 11pm. On the second night however it was ruined with the arrival of a school party just before 9pm. They were crammed into a section which was more like a roundabout and completely on top of some guests in tents. They were pretty noisy setting up and there were groups of teenagers roaming around backwards and forwards to the loos which we happened to be close to- but because it was still not 11pm I didn’t feel I could message the wardens. For this reason, I don’t think we’ll return sadly as it completely ruined the tranquility. As well as the groups wandering around, we had to put up with the movement of their 2 mjnibuses and the unloading of their trailers well after 9pm. For such a peaceful campsite this was disruptive. There was another scout group or similar in a separate area and to be fair they were silent. We were there bank holiday weekend (May 22/23) The campsite was full as it was - the arrival of the additional school group (two minibuses, a trailer of their camping gear and a trailer of kayaks) totally ruined the peace and stretched the facilities.

My sister and I spent 8 nights here and genuinely didn’t want to leave. Red Squirrel is one of the best campsites we’ve stayed on ! The whole site is exceptionally clean and well organised. The showers and toilets were spotless every day, and everything is clearly looked after with real pride. The setting is what makes this place truly special. Surrounded by incredible mountains, every direction looks like a postcard. We were treated to deer, mallards and all sorts of birds during our stay, making it feel like you were camping right in the heart of nature. A brilliant touch is the coffee and cake van that’s open every morning between 8am and 11am. It’s also the perfect base for exploring Glencoe, with stunning walks, lochs, waterfalls and beaches all within easy reach. We’ll definitely be back. Highly recommended ❤️
