Carradale is a working fishing village on the Kintyre Peninsula, where the rhythm of the place still centres on the harbour and the bay. Bayview sits among the houses here with views across fields and the golf course to the water and the islands beyond. The village has a shop, post office, café and bar within easy reach on foot; the sandy beaches and forestry trails that thread through the surrounding countryside are equally accessible.
The house spreads across two floors with four bedrooms—a kingsize, another kingsize, two singles and a bunk—and two bathrooms. A pair of living rooms, each with a TV, gives flexibility for families who want different entertainments on the go; the kitchen-diner has an electric range and the usual appliances for cooking from scratch. There's a multi-fuel burner for warmth, and a utility room with two washing machines for longer stays. The rear garden is enclosed and gravelled, with furniture, a BBQ and games; the front is lawned. Parking for four cars is on site, and there's a bike store. One well-behaved dog is welcome. The essentials—heating, electricity, linen, towels and wifi—are covered; initial fuel for the burner comes with the booking. No smoking inside.
From here you can walk the clifftops, cycle quiet roads, or use the village as a base for trips by ferry to Arran, Gigha, Islay and Jura. The Kintyre Peninsula has distilleries, boat tours and wildlife reserves scattered through it. Families with young children will find a high chair, stairgate and playground all available locally.

This is a fantastic place to stay whilst visiting Bute. The property is No.5 Westwood, not the No.5 at the beginning of the street but rather the No.5 at the far end of the street near the turning circle. This street is quite tight so larger vehicles might struggle. Access is down some steps, no key needed as a code will be sent by email. The bathroom is straight ahead then you go down a flight of steps to the kitchen. Opposite the kitchen there is bedroom 1 which is the largest. Then onto the large livingroom with bedroom 2 (the smaller one) off the livingroom. The view from the front window is fantastic. The property is clean and tidy with a modern look. You can walk to the town centre in 10 mins or less if you are young and fit. Not suitable for wheelchair users on account of the steps. Our only niggles would be to add blinds into the toilet window because although the window was blurred, you still got the feeling anyone walking by or using the turning circle would still see you using the toilet and install a pump into the shower as we felt there was not enough water pressure for the size of shower unit. Other than that a great place to stay whilst visiting Bute.
