Breakfast was a total comedy of errors. We were informed they were completely out of eggs, which effectively neutralized the "Full English" and "scrambled eggs on toast" options. To make matters worse, there was no yogurt for the granola, either. The service didn't fare much better: The Wait: After being seated at 9:00 AM on a busy Cross Country Saturday, we waited ages just to order, and even longer for our drinks to appear. The Tea: We were eventually served two mugs of over-steeped, stewed tea with the bags still swimming in them. The Coffee: Arrived in a noticeably cracked cup. The Sugar Situation: We had to ask for sugar, which was brought out in a mug full of cubes—but with no spoon to actually stir them in.

Excellent staff who went above and beyond to be helpful. The food in the restaurant was really good and there was a great atmosphere in the evenings with top riders as speakers. It was so brilliant to have everything set up on site and not have anything to worry about. Showers and bathrooms were also kept really clean. I slept perfectly the whole week. Well done Emily and team for pulling off a great week despite the terrible weather leading up to it!

The Retreat is AMAZING. This was our first Badminton experience and by day two we were already saying to each other that we will have to do this every year. We were so happy to be on site for the entire week and were so well taken care of. Three of the best riders on earth were speakers at The Retreat in the evenings which was such a powerful touch. Can’t say enough about the food, drinks and most of all the caring, attentive staff. Can’t wait for next year!

Wonderful convenient setting and fabulous facilities almost made you forget you were living under canvas! This will definitely be an annual pilgrimage now, the only thing I would possibly change/suggest would be to have the option of an en-suite loo/basin in the 4 bed tent (obviously would be prepared to pay extra). The restaurant/bar was a great addition and welcome hub to the campsite, and the porters/helpers were always friendly and willing to help. Emily herself was fantastic, nothing was too much trouble. Thank you for an unforgettable weekend!
