Hotels in Ballaugh

Ballaugh has relatively few hotels of its own, being a small village rather than a resort town, so most visitors looking for a hotel base themselves in nearby Ramsey or Peel, both a short drive along the A3 and A4, and treat Ballaugh as a day trip for the Curraghs Wildlife Park, the wetlands and the famous TT Bridge. Ramsey offers a range of guesthouses and small hotels along its harbour and seafront, with easy onward access to the northern glens, while Peel, on the west coast, combines a working fishing harbour, sandy beach and a good choice of places to eat with its own castle and museum. Self-catering cottages and farmhouse bed and breakfasts are more common right around Ballaugh itself, often set on working farms amid the curragh landscape, and these suit visitors who want to wake up close to the wetlands and the TT course rather than commute in from a larger town. Whichever base you choose, Ballaugh's position roughly midway up the island's west side means most of the north of the island, from the Point of Ayre to Snaefell, is within easy striking distance for day trips, and if visiting during TT or Manx Grand Prix fortnight, booking any accommodation as far in advance as possible is strongly advised, since rooms across the whole island fill quickly.
