The carpark is about 400m from the Abbey. If you have difficulty walking it can be quite a treck. Unfortunately there isn't many seats to sit on at the Abbey entrance if you get there early and are waiting for the ticket office to open. In the Abbey there are 2 picnic benches and I other bench. The cost for 2 adults today was £25. If you visit the gift shop with info about the Lindisfarne be prepared to pay another £4 per person per entry. Although it was a place we were excited about visiting, it isn't somewhere we would return to.

Great little museum in a side street (signposted in the middle of the village) and could easily be mistaken for a shop. Once inside the museum it's like a TARDIS! Lots of really interesting history about the island, the Vikings, and the copy of the Lindsafarne gospels explaining how and when they were made was really informative. The lovely lady on the desk explained about the Trust that owns the museum and how money is ploughed back in to the community, for us that was worth the small entrance fee. They also have a small beautiful community garden across the road and that's definitely worth taking a look at. The flowers were beautiful.

Such a lovely experience, driving accross the causeway and the old Abbey is stunning in its unique island setting, with sense of peace and calm within the walls. £23 entry for both of us. We ate our butties in what would have been the monks quarters. Stunning views of the castle and lovely walks around the island. We also walked just beyond the castle to the beach, where you can also walk into the old salt stores. Great day .... would recommend 👌
