A campsite near Bleadon
About Hemingway's Field
If you've ever fancied wild camping but aren't sure about the landowner consent thing – or, truth be told, you do quite like having a toilet on hand – here's an excellent option. On the edge of the Mendip Hills National Landscape, less than a mile from Bleadon village, Hemingway's Field offers that peaceful wild camping feeling with the reassurance you're doing it all legally.
This off-grid five-acre site has just a handful of pitches, each in its own generously sized, fenced area. You genuinely might not notice your neighbours. Each pitch accommodates up to 10 guests, perfect for bringing a gang of friends or claiming all that wonderful space for a glorious solo break. Kids and dogs can roam freely in the safely fenced field, and there's an acre of private woodland to explore. A farm shop, café, playground and two pubs sit within 20 minutes' stroll.
A compost toilet provides your creature comforts; otherwise it's refreshingly back-to-basics. Set up gazebos for shelter, soak up views of Bleadon Hill, or spend evenings stargazing in this mercifully light pollution-free spot.

What visitors say
I have now stayed here several times both in a campervan and a tent. It is quite simply wonderful. My favourite campsite for visiting Glastonbury and one of the best sites I have ever been to. The hosts and all the staff are incredibly welcoming and helpful, the facilities are clean and well thought out and the bar, cantina and firepit are just perfect. The orchard is beautiful and the views across the levels are gorgeous. See you again very soon! I wish you could offer a seasonal pitch!

This is a really special campsite! You can tell a lot of love has gone into it- we loved all the flowers, fruit trees and plants around the site. Even the washup/ toilet area is covered in beautiful flowers and decorations! The cantina is also a lovely space in good weather and we had delicious breakfast and dinner here. The people running it couldn’t have been more friendly and welcoming! I hope to come back one day 🤞

We have stayed at Bob's field twice now and each time it has been the best experience. Everyone is so accommodating and friendly, the food is amazing and the Margarita's are on point! The teepee tent we stayed in had everything we needed, with comfy mattresses and lighting. The toilet and shower facilities are excellent. We bought some logs for the fire outside and enjoyed the peaceful setting. Thanks again for a lovely stay.

Lovely campsite, facilities are clean and simple, hot showers with a very cool style to it all. I only stayed for one night, but got the impression that the site is very well cared for, flower beds and blossom trees this time of year (spring) were gorgeous and what a great idea to have them lead to the facilities area. I was lucky enough to have the field to myself. Plenty of space for all, tent camping, camper vans and posh glamping yurts (a new one was going up whilst I had breakfast) for those looking for the more 'glasto' vibes. Was an ideal spot for me, just a one night stay in a van to go for some nice walks :) attached the only photos I took on my phone - might be back to share snaps from my analogue camera if they come out well enough! Looks like they do food on weekends too. Overall, chill campsite vibes 🌿
