Canalside camping and narrowboat base near Devizes, around 12 miles from Bradford-on-Avon
About Foxhangers Canal Holidays
Foxhangers Canal Holidays sits directly beside the Kennet and Avon Canal near Devizes, a little further from Bradford-on-Avon than the area's other sites at around twelve miles, but worth the extra drive for its combination of camping and a genuine working canal business built up since 1997. The family-run site offers around twenty pitches across two gently sloping paddocks, a five-minute walk from the towpath itself and close to the famous Caen Hill lock flight.
Every pitch has electricity and water included in the price, which is unusual for a site of this size, and there is space for tents, campervans and touring caravans alike. A shower and toilet block sits a short walk from the pitches, and the site's canalside position means walking or cycling the towpath toward Bradford-on-Avon and Bath, or in the other direction toward Devizes, is straightforward and largely traffic-free.
Because Foxhangers also runs self-drive narrowboat hire and permanent moorings alongside the campsite, there is a working boatyard atmosphere rather than a purely residential one, with boats coming and going and canal-side moorings visible from the pitches. Dogs are welcome, and the site makes a practical base for anyone wanting to combine a camping trip with a day's boat hire or simply enjoys watching canal life go by over an evening drink.
