Camping around Bradford-on-Avon means river and canal rather than coast or moor: small, family-run farm sites set along the Kennet and Avon Canal or the River Frome, within easy reach of the towpath for a car-free day exploring the town. Expect grass pitches, modest facilities and a warm welcome rather than resort-style extras, which suits the area's unhurried character rather better than a large holiday park would.
The three sites below sit within a few miles of the town, close enough for an evening walk or cycle ride in along the towpath, and each has its own particular appeal: a working farm beside a mill and a swimmable river, a peaceful canalside Certificated Location for caravans and motorhomes only, and a canal holiday base a little further out toward Devizes with its own moorings and boat hire alongside the pitches. None of these are large commercial campsites, so it is worth booking ahead in the school holidays and shoulder-season festival weekends when the town itself gets busy.
All three welcome dogs and all have electric hookup available on at least some pitches, though wifi and shop facilities are limited or absent at the smaller sites, in keeping with their quiet, back-to-basics character. Anyone touring by narrowboat rather than tent or campervan will also find canal-side moorings at two of the three, making this stretch of the Kennet and Avon a genuine alternative base for exploring Bradford-on-Avon by water.
