Stowford Manor Farm

Wiltshire

Riverside farm camping five minutes from Bradford-on-Avon, on the Somerset border

About Stowford Manor Farm

Stowford Manor Farm is a small, family-run campsite set around a working farm on the border of Wiltshire and Somerset, five minutes' drive from Bradford-on-Avon. Grass pitches for tents and touring caravans sit within sight of a genuine thirteenth-century farmhouse, a working watermill and a cluster of old farm workshops, giving the site a sense of place that larger commercial grounds rarely manage.

The River Frome runs along the edge of the site and is deep enough for swimming, paddling and paddle boarding in summer, making this one of the few campsites in the area where a dip in the river is part of the daily routine rather than a novelty. Electric hookups are available for tourers and motorhomes, and a small number of glamping units can be hired for those without their own kit. Toilet and shower facilities serve the whole site, and dogs are welcome on leads.

A farm cafe serves cream teas from Easter through to the end of September, with pizzas cooked to order on summer evenings, saving a drive into town after a day on the water or the towpath. The site's location, tucked into the Wingfield hamlet just outside Trowbridge, puts Bradford-on-Avon, Trowbridge and the Somerset border villages all within a short drive, while the quiet lanes around the farm are good walking and cycling country in their own right.
