About Cairndale Caravan Park
What a spot for walkers, cyclists and indeed anybody who wants to get out and about in spectacular countryside. Cairndale Caravan Park is in a fabulous location with easy access to not one – but two – Areas of Outstanding Natural Beauty, and if that wasn’t enough, the Lake District National Park is on hand too.
This is quite a small site at the foot of the Pennines National Landscape, and as it’s surrounded by greenery wherever you look, you might just want to lie back in or by your tent and take in the views. Chances are, however, that the call of all those walks across moorland to spectacular waterfalls will spur you into action.
You might prefer to pack everybody into the car and head to the Lakes (30 minutes’ drive) to go boating on the water or walk a section of the Ullswater Way. Slightly further afield, the Solway Coast National Landscape (45 minutes) will reveal seemingly endless beaches for kids and dogs to romp around on.
If you fancy cosy nights around the barbecue, stock up on grill bits and bobs at Brampton’s convenience stores (take a look at the ruined abbey while you’re there). Otherwise there’s a destination pub in Cumwhitton (five minutes' drive) and a huge choice of restaurants and takeaways in Carlisle (20 minutes).

A great find! Located in a lovely spot. Toilet and shower block clean.

A lovely little campsite that has a mix of hard standing for campervans, tents and static caravans. I like that it's quite small and also in a very nice quiet area with surroundings. It was great value for money and whilst the shower block could do with a bit of an update the showers were very nice and hot. Would definitely stop off again as it was about half way in our journey down from Scotland and not too difficult to get from the A1.
