About Fallow Fields Camping at Lathe Barn

Tucked away near Burmarsh, this cheerful site proves that getting back to basics doesn't mean sacrificing comfort. Spacious grass pitches give campers proper elbow room, while the furnished and part-furnished bell tents offer a gentler introduction to canvas living. The on-site kitchen turns out proper wood-fired pizzas and rotisserie chicken – a welcome sight after a day exploring Romney Marsh – and the facilities earn consistent praise for being spotlessly maintained.

Families find plenty to keep younger campers occupied, from soft play to archery sessions, while the well-stocked shop and cafe mean you needn't venture far for essentials. Dogs are welcome throughout, and campfires are allowed, adding to the relaxed, outdoorsy atmosphere. Staff get regular mentions for being genuinely helpful rather than just going through the motions.

My wife, our 11 year old son, our young dog and I camped at Lathe Barn in our own tent in the main camping field. We were made to feel really welcome from the moment we arrived. Gemma, Charlie, Mike and the whole family and team were so helpful and friendly. The views from our pitch were stunning with a view through the trees of Lympne Castle on the hill and we could even see some of Port Lympne wildlife park. We even think we heard lions roaring in the far distance at one point! Very exciting! It had a beautiful wide open view of the sunsets and the grounds were perfects for the kids to run and play with loads of space, a central wooded area and a play barn with a soft play jungle gym, table tennis and table football. There was a handy communal fridge/freezer too. The toilets, showers and washing up areas were well equipped, good quality, clean and well maintained. Great showers! Really nice shop and cafe too. We all had a brilliant time and so did all the other families camping there. Really happy it was dog friendly too! The pup had a great time and it was his first ever camping trip! There was probably so much more to do and see there and in the local area, but we were enjoying relaxing there so much we mostly stayed on site as it was so lovely. We will definitely go back there again!

Really lovely, family-friendly campsite. We stayed here with some friends in a fully furnished bell tent. We had everything we needed and it was all good quality. Any problems and the staff were really happy to help. We also tried pizzas from the cafe one evening and they do vegan cheese so great for any vegans or people allergic to dairy. Lots of stuff for the kids to do, my kids particularly enjoyed the table tennis and table football. All staff were so cheery even in the super hot heatwave, can't fault them. Would definitely recommend.

We stayed here last weekend and had an amazing time. I would happily come back and definately reccomend. It's not huge but big enough for our kids to feel like they could go and explore / meet other children while we knew they were safe. The facilities are great - good food and a bar / snacks and supplies and our little boy did the archery, fed the horses and enjoyed the play barn. The staff are really lovely, friendly and helpful. We've done quite a bit of camping over the years and this was one of the best places we've visited. It isn't the cheapest campsite but at the same time it's well worth it. Thanks for a lovely stay!

Have stayed at fallow fields several times and it’s always the most welcoming and wholesome experience. First of all Rob, Gemma and their family are wonderful as are all their staff! The camping experience itself is beautiful, the views are amazing and the tents are lovely! The kids love the play area, and the board games in the marsh kitchen are such a nice touch when spending time with the family. We always enjoy the food and drinks The Marsh kitchen offer, the pizzas are amazing! So if you’re looking to go camping or glamping and enjoying some wholesome quality time with your family I cannot recommend this place enough!
