About Grant Arms Hotel
The Grant Arms occupies the square in Grantown-on-Spey and traces its history to 1765, making it one of the oldest hotels in the Highlands. It holds an AA four-star award and has 51 rooms, which makes it substantial by Cairngorms standards while remaining recognisably a town hotel rather than a resort.
Its distinguishing feature is the Bird Watching and Wildlife Club, established in 2008 and open to guests. The hotel positions itself as a centre for wildlife tourism in the national park, running an expert-led programme of guided walks, hides, talks and day trips covering the species people come for: osprey, capercaillie, crested tit, crossbill, red squirrel, mountain hare and red deer. For anyone whose holiday is built around wildlife, that structure is worth more than any spa.
Rooms are straightforward and well equipped, with hospitality trays, controllable heating, flat-screen televisions and free wi-fi. There is an award-winning restaurant and a whisky offer that reflects the hotel's position on the edge of Speyside. Grantown itself is a handsome Georgian planned town with a good high street, an eighteen-hole golf course and the Anagach Woods on its doorstep, and Aviemore is about twenty-five minutes away by road.

Great place to have lunch. Gavin, our bartender/waiter was exceptional. He was very knowledgeable about Scotch Whiskeys and his recommendations were spot on. The food was great and we had a wonderful lunch.

A very charming Victorian era hotel in the heart of Grantown-on-Spey. My partner and I stopped here overnight on a drive about the Highlands and were very pleased with the cleanliness, comfort, size, and style of the rooms and hotel broadly. We enjoyed the cafe bar for a nightcap before bed. The front desk staff were above & beyond, as was the cafe bar bartender. It’s a great hotel in a small town with not too much to do (especially on a Sunday in the winter), but we enjoyed our stay nonetheless (just be prepared to drive to Aviemore for more robust amenities). We were also pleased with the price - very reasonable for the quality, and the staff were communicative & generous with our last minute booking - the kitchen staff even stayed on till our arrival to make sure we’d had our dinner before closing for the night. Great hotel!

The dining experience was truly exceptional, thanks to the warm and personable staff who consistently went out of their way to provide excellent service. The Easter lunch was absolutely delicious, with a presentation that was next level! I especially appreciated the whiskey tasting experience that was the highlight of the stay. It is also very accessibly located to various nature walks.

The Grant Arms Hotel offers amazing service, comfortable rooms and wonderfully prepared and presented meals. Our family stayed here for two nights and it makes an ideal location when visiting the Scottish Highlands. The staff and service were a cut above and we will certainly be back on our next visit.
