About Ravenscraig Guest House

Ravenscraig Guest House stands on Grampian Road, Aviemore's main street, which puts the railway station, the bus stops for Glenmore and the ski road, the outdoor shops and the supermarkets all within a few minutes on foot. For anyone coming to the Cairngorms without a car, that location is hard to beat at the price.

Accommodation is split between the original Victorian villa and a set of cabin-style rooms in the grounds, twelve en-suite bedrooms in total. The cabins suit families and groups who want their own door, while the house rooms are the more traditional guest house option. The property is rated four stars and is run as an owner-operated business rather than part of a chain.

Breakfast is treated seriously, with the kitchen making a point of catering for different diets and appetites rather than offering a single fixed spread. Booking direct is encouraged for the best rates. From the door, Rothiemurchus and Loch an Eilein are a short drive or cycle, Loch Morlich and the Cairngorm funicular are up the ski road, and the Strathspey Railway runs from the far side of Aviemore station towards Boat of Garten and Broomhill.

Brilliant place to stay. Location absolutely excellent for everything in Aviemore but just a couple minutes walk away from the centre of town proper, so it was quiet and peaceful but still very convenient. Room was spacious and clean. Breakfasts delicious with lots of options, and I really appreciated that they allowed me to come down for breakfast a little earlier than usually scheduled each day (which allowed me to get to my course on time). Really useful drying room too so could dry climbing / mountaineering kit when needed. Free parking outside the Guest House is also so convenient. Scott and the entire team were very friendly, helpful and faultless. Highly recommend and would definitely stay again.

Stayed last night just for one night. Perfect location. I booked the single and it was ideal. Super clean, crisp white sheets, warm room and great decor. The bathroom was also great and the shower was wonderful. I had an early start this morning so wasn’t around to try breakfast, can’t wait to visit again so I can try! I booked really last minute. I appreciate the quick response and warm welcome. The owner was incredibly friendly. I can’t recommend enough.

I stayed here for a winter climbing trip in Dec 2025. It’s absolutely ideal for outdoor folk. Has an excellent drying room with proper boot heaters - my kit was warm and dry in no time. Lovely hot showers. Big comfy beds. Generous breakfasts to fuel your adventures. Super friendly owners. As it wasn’t too busy when I stayed, the owner kindly let my guide join me for breakfast and plan our day in the lovely breakfast room (with log burner!). Will definitely be back!

We had a great stay at Ravenscraig Guest House! The guest house overall and room were very cozy and the breakfast excellent. Everyone was so lovely and Scott gave us some great dinner recommendations. Coming down very wet from the mountains every afternoon (February!), we really appreciated the drying room! We highly recommend to stay at Ravenscraig Guest House when in Aviemore.
