The Keep

Calderdale

Photo: Google Maps

Built as a boiler house in 1840, The Keep has been stripped back and redesigned to marry its industrial bones with modern comfort. The structure's original character—thick walls, substantial proportions—now frames floor-to-ceiling windows that open onto rolling Calder Valley woodland. The property sits on a road famous among cyclists for its place in the 2014 Tour de France route.

The layout spreads across two levels. Upstairs is an open-plan living and kitchen area with a smart TV, and two double bedrooms; downstairs, an additional living room with its own entertainment. The kitchen is fully equipped for cooking. There's one bathroom with a deep soak bath and shower. Two bedrooms sleep four guests total. Essentials like heating, electricity, bed linen, towels and wifi are all included. One dog stays free. An outdoor hot tub seats four and is available for an additional charge. Two private patio areas connect to the main living space, and there's parking for one car on the drive with additional space on the road nearby. No smoking inside.

The Calder Valley offers cycling, walking and access to the wider Pennines. The property works equally well as a base for outdoor activity or as somewhere to settle in and use the bath and hot tub. Children and one pet are welcome.
