About The Shepherd's Rest

Tucked into 112 acres of working sheep farm west of the Brecon Beacons, The Shepherd's Rest is a genuinely off-grid adults-only haven for wildlife lovers and stargazers. Over 100 nest boxes draw owls, red kites, buzzards and woodpeckers, while the site's meadows, streams and ponds are bordered by native hedgerows that feel wonderfully remote. Parking is in the first field, and the helpful team will assist with moving your kit to pitch.

Facilities are minimal but thoughtful—a toilet pop-up tent, shower, ice-pack freezing and recycling—suited to those seeking a wilder camping experience. Barbecues are encouraged under famously dark skies. The site can feel rustic in places (it's truly off-grid, so manage expectations), but that's part of the charm for escapists. Llandeilo's shops and eateries, including some excellent Sunday roasts, are just 15 minutes' drive when you need resupplying.

Absolute perfection. Stunning pub with great views. Staff were absolutely mint. Food was some of the best I've had, very good Sunday roast and perfect desserts. Look forward to another visit!

Great cosy pub, set in a beautiful landscape. The food was excellent and the staff were lovely. I had to order at the bar as nobody came to take our order. We were seated in the bar area and not the Gallery which may have been the reason. I also had to remind them at the bar that we had previously asked for the bill, but shortly after doing so, the bill was brought over. Highly recommend 👌 Really good food!

Had lunch here yesterday for my Husband's Birthday. Food was amazing and would highly recommend Chicken and chorizo in white wine sauce. Staff were very friendly and helpful and the views are stunning. Will be recommending to all my friends and family. Could not fault anything and will definitely be returning 😊
