Kidwelly lies 2 miles away with a castle, quay walk, and local shops. Pembrey Country Park and Burry Port's coastal stretch are 6 miles on. Carmarthen, a proper town with cinema and shopping, sits 10 miles off. Within an hour's drive are Tenby's walled seafront and The Gower's beaches—both substantial draws for a longer break exploring South Wales.

Y Parlwr is a self-contained annexe on a smallholding, accessed through its own entrance. The ground floor holds a living and dining space with woodburner and Smart TV, plus a fully fitted kitchen. Upstairs: a double bedroom and ensuite shower room. The property sleeps two and accepts one pet at no extra cost. Essentials like electricity, heating, bed linen, towels and wifi are covered; fuel for the woodburner too. There's private parking for one car and your own hot tub outdoors.

The semi-rural location suits those travelling with dogs or looking for quiet. No smoking is allowed indoors.

Fabulous week in this beautiful cottage

We booked to stay for a week and left after just 2 hours. When I say this place had a lingering odour of dogs I mean it stank. The whole downstairs is a tiled floor with only 1 sofa so I am not sure how the stink has permeated so badly that it hits you as soon as you open the door. The photos on the booking sites must be old as the grout and sealant in the bathroom has black mold and the owners kindly left us a toothbrush holder with left over dried toothpaste on the edges and inside. The kitchen worktops felt sticky and when I looked at the state of the pans in the drawer it sealed my decision to not use the hot tub. If you can't provide a non rusted frying pan, how can I trust you have cleaned the hot tub thoroughly? We travelled 180 miles to this accommodation so to turn round and drive back home indicates how completely unhappy we were with the cleanliness of the cottage. Also, zero instructions for the heating or hot water system and the inside of the kitchen cabinets was gross.

We enjoyed our stay and thought the facilities were excellent — the property has everything you could need. However, a few things did take away from the experience The hot tub wasn’t as relaxing as we’d hoped due to the building work next door. The walk up didn’t feel private, despite being advertised as such, and we felt uncomfortable using it during the day with people walking back and forth. The construction noise over the weekend also meant it wasn’t the peaceful getaway we expected based on the reviews. We understand that you’re currently doing work next door — we just happened to fall on a particularly noisy weekend. Our biggest concern was the cleanliness. There was a noticeable amount of dust, cobwebs, and spiders throughout the property, flies on the windowsill, dirty cups, and dirty cupboards. The oven and trays really needed a deep clean. Although it’s a dog-friendly stay — and we have dogs ourselves — there was dog hair everywhere. I’m glad I didn’t take my dogs as it wasn’t very safe to let the dogs out in the patio. There was a big gap by the hot tub going straight on the main road that could do with some fencing. Some walls were quite dirty, and both the bathroom and kitchen needed more thorough cleaning; there was even toothpaste left on the bathroom tap and dirty mirrors. Which looked like they haven’t been checked. It’s a lovely property it just needs much more attention to cleanliness, especially in the kitchen and bathroom, as this did impact our overall stay. I would like to stay again as it’s a beautiful place and area but some things need work. Thanks for having us. Just let disappointed.
