About Bayview Hotel

The Bayview stands on Bayhead Road in Portballintrae, a small crescent bay between Portrush and Bushmills that most visitors drive past without stopping. That is rather the point: the hotel gets Atlantic views and quiet in equal measure while sitting ten minutes from the Giant's Causeway and fifteen from Portrush.

There are 25 rooms plus a separate three-bedroom seaside cottage for families or groups wanting self-contained space. Rooms are well specified for the price, with rainfall showers, robes, in-room safes, Nespresso machines and fast wi-fi, and the sea-facing ones are worth the supplement. Downstairs, the Porthole Bar and Restaurant looks out over the water and serves lunch and dinner daily, and the lounge keeps a peat fire going, which does a lot for the mood in February. A treatment room handles spa bookings.

For walkers, the Bushfoot strand and the Causeway Coast Way start on the doorstep, and the old railway path runs from the bay towards Bushmills. Dunluce Castle is visible along the cliffs to the west. It is a sensible choice for couples and older families who want a proper hotel with good food but would rather not be in the middle of a resort town, and it tends to represent better value than the Portrush hotels for equivalent quality.

This is one of the best hotels i have ever stayed in. The ambience is good. The food is amazing and the rooms are immaculate. If i really wanted to be picky it would be good to have air conditioning and the thermostats operational. The staff kindly lent us a fan as it's a heatwave. The jacuzzi bath in the junior suites is awesome. Highly recommend this Hotel for the location, food, rooms and great for sight seeing. 😊

An absolute north coast favourite. Always looking impeccable with great service and delicious food. For me as a coeliac I am hugely grateful to them for stocking a delicious craft gluten free beer. Really hard to find gluten feee beers on the north coast so the Bayview has become a favourite spot as a result. The kids love the burgers here too!

Beautiful hotel. The rooms are well decorated with your comfort very important. We enjoyed junior suite with ocean views. Comfy reclining swivel chairs and footstools placed at our window made relaxing so easy. All food served is well made, hot and very tasty. All staff go that extra mile to ensure you are made welcome, and feel at ease and relaxed . One is made to feel you are staying with good friends. I always enjoy a walk along Runkerry beach , and a hot coffee on my return. Already looking forward to our next visit.

We stayed here in March 2026 for two nights. The location is incredible. We didn't have a car, but we didn't need one. The bus stop is literally steps away from the front door. We took the 402 bus from the Coleraine Train Station to the hotel. We took the 402 to Bushmills, Portrush, Dunluce Castle and the Giant's Causeway with no issues. We had to do a little bit of walking, but that was to be expected. . The food and the service in the restaurant was incredible. Every dish was delicious. The rooms are a little dated, but the beds were comfortable and everything was clean. Would stay again! Excellent vacation!
