Dol Llan works well for families wanting a seaside base, or groups of friends after a self-catering retreat together. The cottage sits within walking distance of a beach with rock pools and sand, a handful of shops and cafés, and two pubs. A stream runs through the garden. The building itself is a 300-year-old stone structure with room for six: downstairs there's a living space with woodburner, a kitchen with everything needed for cooking, and a ground-floor bedroom with a double bed plus a child's Z-bed. Upstairs are two further bedrooms, one with twins and one with a single. The family bathroom has a bath with shower over. One car can park on the property, and wi-fi is available throughout.
The Cardigan Coast around here draws people for walking—the coastal path runs in both directions with year-round routes—and for wildlife. Seals, dolphins, red kites and buzzards are regularly spotted. Rock pool exploring and crabbing from the harbour wall keep children occupied; kayak hire is available from the seafront. New Quay, a short drive away, has better-known beaches and is a centre for watersports. Fishing, golf, horse riding and a dry ski slope all sit within a mile. The area suits active holidays in any season. One well-behaved pet stays free, and smoking is not permitted inside.
