Finding a retreat that balances sheer tranquility with prime access to the Lake District is no easy feat, but Avon Wood Holiday Home Park hits the absolute sweet spot. Tucked neatly into the woodland, its central location makes exploring the surrounding lakes effortless. You can spend the morning wandering local fell trails and be back at your base in no time, completely bypassing the hassle of endless driving. The lodge itself was immaculate—exceptionally clean, wonderfully comfortable, and fully equipped with every modern amenity you could possibly need for a stress-free getaway. It genuinely felt like a home away from home the moment we walked through the door. However, the real crown jewel of the experience is the private patio area. Furnished with a bubbling hot tub that looks right out over the glittering waters of Windermere, it is pure luxury. Sitting in the warm water while listening to the gentle, distant hum of the lake boats passing by is about as peaceful as life gets. Then comes the ultimate bonus: every now and then, the serene quiet is thrillingly broken by low-flying military fighter jets streaking low through the valley overhead. Watching them slice through the sky right from the deck adds a sudden surge of adrenaline to an otherwise relaxing afternoon—an exhilarating contrast you won't forget anytime soon! Avon Wood delivers the ideal blend of restful seclusion, spectacular lake views, a touch of aviation excitement, and seamless central access to everything Cumbrian. It is, without a doubt, a place we will be coming back to again and again.

Recently stayed at Coniston Lodge at Avon Wood. Easy to book and great communication from Hoseasons and lodge owner/park. Lodge was immaculate and had everything we needed, with added nice touches like wine, chocolates, robes, slippers etc. Hot tub was lovely and outdoor furniture and terrace was fantastic - lovely views across lake and over to Coniston fells in the distance. Just a couple of small issues - the sofa in the photos on the Hoseasons website has been replaced and the replacement is not great in terms of comfort - ok for one person but not great for anyone else. Also, the bed appears to have been replaced and whilst it was very comfy it appears to be a double bed and not the king size that is advertised. We are used to a larger bed so were expecting the same we have at home, so someting to be aware of if this is what you are looking for. Overall a clean and fabulous lodge in a lovely peaceful location.

Absolutely stunning location. Beautiful accommodation: clean and tastefully decorated with every piece of kitchen equipment you could need. Very friendly and helpful staff/owners. A welcome bottle of prosecco, milk and a box of chocolates on arrival. We have booked again for next year so that says it all!

Amazingly located cabin, with good access to the lake and surrounding mountains. We liked how secluded and tucked away the place was, very quiet on an evening / night. The hot tub was fantastic, the place spotlessly clean, and the staff all very friendly. If you wanted walking access to pubs/ food it might not be the place for you, but we cooked in the well enough equipped kitchen, except for one night we drove to Kendal for a meal. There were just a couple of points that knocked off a star, which would make great improvements. First off was the bed. Possibly one of the most uncomfortable mattresses we have stayed on anywhere - extremely hard, and not very plush pillows. Especially after long walks in the mountains we would have loved something that gave us a better night's sleep. Secondly, there was an imposing amount of rules printed on sheets of paper and stuck all over the cabin. As mentioned above, we loved how clean the place was, but found having things like TV remotes and coffee tables wrapped in plastic a bit uncomfortable Would definitely stay again if we knew there was going to be a more comfortable bed!
